Rowentrees Pottery Fish Plate, Rowentrees Pottery Blue Hills, Maine Fish Logo Plate, More Available
This delightful plate is a Rowentrees Pottery fish plate. Each plate has a hand painted cobalt blue fish in the center. The off-white color of the plate is said to be called oyster white. The 8″ plate is marked on the bottom and weighs 1# 1.2oz before wrapping and boxing. You can see the beautiful deep red clay that the plate was made from on the back. There is a blue glaze on the back, too. Due to the red clay, is takes on a soft blue-gray color. Sadly, Rowentrees Pottery, which was located in Blue Hills, Maine, is now closed.
Six plates are available and are being sold individually. The slight differences in the fish and shades of blue show the uniqueness of each plate. They are all free of chips or cracks and the glaze is free of crazing. Of note, a few have markings on the sides where the firing pins may have been. I made sure to face each of these spots towards the camera.
There is one plate where the glaze did not go through to the red clay on the rim, and I have discounted that plate. That area, too, is facing towards the camera in the photo. All 6 plates are shown in the pictures for you to see their condition, but please remember they are being sold individually.
These are perfect for many different types of collections. From the sportsman or sportswoman, angler, to the coastal cottage, this plate would be perfect. Buy all 6 and have a set for everyday use!
